South Sinai Governorate is one of Egypt's governorates and one of the two governorates that divide the area of the Sinai Peninsula, and its capital is the city of El-Tur. The governorate enjoys a stable climate throughout the year and has pure water sources from artesian wells, and this is what makes it distinct from all governorates where the availability of fresh drinking water is rare. Sinai played an important role in the history of Egypt. It was a road for armies and a battlefield, and on its soil much blood was shed for those who were guarding Egypt’s eastern gate. The Sinai Peninsula is the first supplier of mineral wealth in Egypt, as petroleum flows from its western edges and copper, phosphate, iron and coal flow from its east. There are many raw materials used in various industries in South Sinai, such as: gypsum, sand, and glass.
