Fujian is a southeastern Chinese province known for its mountains and coastal cities. It includes a number of important Chinese cities, including Xiamen, which is a coastal city par excellence, in addition to Gulangyu Island, which includes a number of pedestrian streets and colonial villas from the nineteenth century. The most important city in the province is the city of Fuzhou, which is considered the capital of the province, and is the transportation center for many destinations such as the city of Quanzhou, which is distinguished by the availability of temples, the old town area, and maritime museums.
