Beni Suef Governorate is one of the smallest Egyptian governorates, and its capital is the city of Beni Suef. The name (Beni Suef) was not given to the governorate until recently. During the Pharaonic era, it was called (Bophesia). Although the total area of the governorate represents only about 1% of the total area of the Arab Republic of Egypt, it is famous for combining agricultural and desert characteristics, and it is also of particular importance in terms of the production of fruits, vegetables, and aromatic plants.
