Zaranik Reserve is located along the Mediterranean coast of North Sinai at the eastern end of Lake Bardawil. It was declared a protected area around 1985. It is one of the largest reserves in Egypt, and is characterized by its salty water that covers about seventy percent of its area and the rest is covered by sand dunes. .
