Located within the grounds of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress on a relatively high hill near the eastern gate of the fortress, Yeonmodi has been a military observation post and training ground for troops for more than two centuries, where they learned fighting skills using swords, spears, and arrows. UNESCO has placed this landmark on the World Heritage List for its beauty and historical richness.
