Standing above the river and facing the city, the ancient and ornate Wat Phanan Chong houses a gigantic gilded Buddha statue that is 57 feet high. It also hosts various events, such as the Casting of Baskets Festival, in which many opera performances and entertainment activities are held, especially as it is a place of worship for many people.
