Information about Wat Mung Muang
Wat Mong Muang gained fame in Chiang Rai because of a wonderful miracle that happened in it. In World War II, there was a bombing in Chiang Rai province, however, this temple was unharmed, and locals credit this with a two-color Buddha statue. Besides, the temple was built in 1839, and its most interesting landmark is an ancient Lanna-style Chidi located on a square platform that supports the base of the Buddha statue and above it is the place where Buddha's remains are kept.
