The palace was built between 1828 and 1848 for the Russian Prince Mikhail Vorontsov. The palace is distinguished by its engineering design that combines many architectural styles. It is a mixture of elements of Scottish Baronial architecture, Indian Renaissance architecture and Gothic architecture. The palace is surrounded by a beautiful green garden that extends over an area of 40 hectares. The palace and the park are included in the "Alupka Palace Park Complex", a national historical reserve of the Ukrainian government.
