The fish market is a monument located in the center of the city of Alkmaar. It dates back to the nineteenth century. It was used as a commercial building for selling fish. The fish were stored inside the building and then displayed in the stone banks located outside. The market remained in existence until 1998 AD. It was held on Fridays every week, but today it is a monument and a famous square that still preserves its original structure.
