Information about Saint Martin's Church
St. Martin's Church is the oldest church in Estonia. Immediately after the conquest of 1227, the Teutonic Knights erected a stone chapel in Falala not far from the ancient stronghold, the walls of which form the lower part of the choir of the present church. Soon after its completion, the church was decorated with murals, the remaining parts of which can be seen on the north wall of the church (six apostles seated in a Roman frame).
