Valenza Castle is actually two castles full of fortified nooks and crannies, watchtowers, huge gates and defensive forts connected by a single bridge. The ancient churches and mansion-style mansions inside attest to the success of the fortifications against several sieges; Some are in the late nineteenth century, and the oldest fortifications in this castle date back to the reign of Dom Afonso III in the thirteenth century, although what you see today was mostly built in the seventeenth century, and its design was inspired by the French military engineer Vauban (Vauban).
