A few minutes from the center of Bucharest, the Vacarysti Park Nature Reserve was the result of a failed communist-era infrastructure project, which has been deserted ever since, and the lack of human intervention over the years has made it a picturesque nature reserve that is home to a number of animals. Wildlife and birds of all kinds, and the area was largely neglected until interest began in 2016 when the Romanian government declared the protected site a nature park.
