Information about Upper Barrakka Gardens - Valetta
It is a public park in Valletta, offering a panoramic view of the city. The arches in the garden were built in 1661. The garden was originally roofed, but the roof was removed in 1775. The gardens were originally used to provide entertainment for Italian knights, but were opened to the public after the end of the French occupation of Malta in 1800. This park is a wonderful place for a walk and learn about the history of Malta, as there are many monuments in the park, and memorials to a number of prominent personalities, including Winston Churchill and Captain Ball.
