This sculpture garden is located in the Umidalen district, about 5 kilometers from the center of Umeå, and is one of the most prominent and famous sculpture gardens in Europe. Today, the garden is located on a site that was formerly a mental hospital, which was disposed in 1987, and in 1994 the first exhibition of stunning sculptures was held on the same site, as it was intended to focus on the subject of mental illness.
