Nestled in a majestic location above the Merano Mountains on a colossal moraine, Tyrol Castle is an ancient castle dating back to the Middle Ages, with a massive structure that includes an inner chapel. Today, with its imposing building, the castle is a historical museum of the city, which includes many Gothic frescoes and the oldest glass paintings in Tyrol, as well as groups of statues and huge sculptures. Above the entrance to the church you can see the oldest picture of the Tyrolean eagle, which dates back to the thirteenth century.
