Sri Lanka is globally known as one of the few places where you can watch sea turtles in their natural habitat. Five out of seven species of sea turtles in the world are found in Sri Lanka, and they come to Rekawa Beach to lay their eggs, so the Rekawa Turtle Monitoring Project was established To conserve sea turtles, protect turtle nesting sites and ensure eggs can hatch safely, visitors can visit the center and turtle watch any evening of the year, where volunteers lead groups of visitors to the beach between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m. to watch the turtles lay their eggs And back to the sea.
