The Turtle Conservation Education Center was opened in 2006 and covers an area of 24 hectares that allows turtles of all kinds to move freely. It is one of the largest turtle conservation efforts in Bali. It aims to disseminate information and education on the consumption of turtle meat and eggs that are still used in some religious rituals in Bali. Putting a permanent end to the turtle trade, controlling their sizes and numbers, as well as providing job opportunities for the local population of Serangan.
