Founded in 1987, this museum was previously the headquarters of the German Secret Police, the SS and the Reich Security Main Office during the rule of the Third Reich (the Nazi period), the museum provides information to visitors about the most important institutions of National Socialist oppression and terrorism against the German people. It is also an example of how Germany has taken responsibility for its dark history, by presenting itself through this museum.
