Built in 1937, Tongxiao Mausoleum is located on the slope of a hill in Shangua at an altitude of less than 100 meters above sea level. In November 2002, it was designated a historic building of Miaoli County. The shrine is the city's most famous historical site, as well as one of the few Japanese Shinmi-style buildings in Taiwan. Due to the succession of civilizations in Taiwan, the shrine's main hall and chapel hall were demolished, leaving only their foundations. However, the atmosphere of a Japanese Shinto shrine is still evident here and tourists come from everywhere.
