Information about Thuparamaya Dagaba
Thubarmaya Dhagba is the first Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka, located in the sacred area of Mahamuna Park. It is the oldest dagoba to be built on the island, built in 247-207 B.C. The temple is officially recognized by the government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka. The temple is characterized by its beautiful construction in the form of a bell, and although it was destroyed many times over the ages, it still preserves its magnificent structure and amazing architectural style, and the outer garden of the temple includes many archaeological remains such as statues and impressive stone carvings that must be seen .
