The Pearl Monument is located in the Qatari city of Doha and is considered one of the most important tourist attractions in it. The monument includes a fountain. This fountain is a tribute to the history of Qatar in pearling, the primary industry before oil. Prior to the discovery of oil in Qatar in 1939 AD, pearl fishing was one of the main sources of income in Qatar. On Corniche Street, just before entering Dow Harbor, stands the Pearl Monument, which depicts a giant open oyster statue presenting a huge pearl in its mouth. This fountain, which lights up at night, provides the perfect photo opportunity while honoring the history of pearling in Qatar.
