The Old Stock Exchange in Naschmarkt is the oldest Baroque building in Leipzig. It was built by Leipzig merchants in 1678 and used as a prestigious assembly place for 200 years. Transactions were completed, auctions were held, and bills of exchange were traded in this place; But in 1886 the Chamber of Commerce built a larger building on Trondlenring, and since then the Old Stock Exchange has been used for concerts, readings, theatrical performances, lectures and conferences as well as for private and public events.
