One of the most famous historical and political monuments in Moscow is the Moscow Kremlin. It is a walled complex of cathedrals, palaces and government offices, along with many buildings open to the public, including the Armory, the Patriarch's Palace and the State Palace. It is located in the center of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River. To the south, St. Basil's Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and Alexander Garden to the west.
