The Lantern Tower is not quite as old as the other towers from the 15th century although it may have replaced an earlier tower from the 12th century. This tower was built with the aim of controlling and disarming all ships entering the port, in addition to being the central watchtower of the coast of Aunis, and tourists and residents visit it at the present time to wander around and learn about its history.
