The Golden Mosque is the religious center for Muslims in Metro Manila. It was called by this name because of the color of its dome. It was built in 1976 under the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos under the supervision of Mrs. Imelda Marcos on the state visit of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The goal was to help achieve peace with Muslim separatists in Mindanao. The mosque eventually became the largest mosque and center of Islam in Manila. It is a great and very beautiful place that we recommend you to visit.
