The Begonia Church is considered the most important religious building in the city, and even surpassed the cathedral in its importance to the people of Bilbao, and it was nicknamed (La Amatxu), which means the little mother, as a result of the belief that the early appearance of the Virgin Mary was at this site, and the construction of the church began in 1511, Many changes have been made in it over the years, it expresses the history of Bilbao, its architectural forms are a mixture of Gothic styles, Renaissance and industrialization.
