Information about Tel Shikmona
One of the distinctive archaeological monuments in the city of Haifa, located on the seashore from the southwestern side. The history of this archaeological site dates back to the nineteenth century BC until the Islamic period in the seventeenth century AD. This site includes a number of archaeological evidence that indicates the succession of many groups that were present in this region, including a cemetery carrying archaeological fish in which there are approximately 22 tombs carved in the rock, all dating back to the Roman and Byzantine periods, in addition to the remains of the church whose floor was paved with mosaics. It is decorated with bronze crosses, and many other pieces and evidence indicating that the Tell al-Samak region was at that time prosperous with its economy and architecture.
