The Taghit desert is located in the far southwest of Algeria, 1100 km from the country's capital. It is believed that the name "Tagheit" is a Berber derived from "Tagount" which means the room, and "Tghlit" which is the plateau, and the interpretations of the name differ, and everyone agrees that it was unique in its beauty and its wonderful red sand. Visitors will find in this desert a large number of tribes that are known for their love of life, as the residents of this area do not sleep until late hours (which is part of their faith beliefs), and the residents of Taghit believe that “sleep steals from them hours that they should have used in joy.” And that its residents wake up with the sunrise to begin their busy days.
