The biblical commandment “Love thy neighbor as thyself” can be read in both Hebrew and Hungarian on the triumphal arch of the new Szeged Synagogue built in 1903, the use of Hungarian may be attributed to the great influence of Rabbis Immánuel Lőw who actively participated in the design of the building and supported the work of architect Lipot Pommhorn (Lipót Baumhorn) with his guidance. This synagogue is distinguished by its painted glass windows and the symbolic glass dome of exceptional beauty, and its interior is dominated by the harmonious mixture of ivory, gold and blue, amazing frescoes, and other majestic designs.
