In the early 1930s, a poor Serbian boy, Mátyás Szamos, stole what could be made from sugary almond paste from a famous Danish confectioner. Thanks to a lot of practice and ingenuity, young Matias Szamos soon learned how to make rose petals out of marzipan. Szamos marzipan is grown from this rose, and it is worth noting that the secrets, recipes and passion with which Matthias creates his creations are passed down from generation to generation in the family.
