The Holy Trinity Cathedral was built in classical style during the 19th century by the Ryazanovs - a wealthy dynasty and family of Old Believers, and was completed in 1854. The church was closed in 1930 when the bell tower and domes were destroyed. During the war, and during the Soviet years, the church was used as a cinema and textile factory, and the building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1996. Today, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is the main place of worship in Yekaterinburg, and the interiors include an impressive religious fresco which is known as the iconostasis. .
