Sukbator Square is the central square of Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar, and houses a large monument to Genghis Khan, who is considered the founding father of Mongolia, as well as to Ögedei Khan and Kublai Khan directly in front of the Government Palace, and at its center houses a statue Damdin Sükhbaatar, one of the leaders of the Mongolian Revolution of 1921, on horseback. During Mongolia's socialist period, Sukbator Square was the scene of annual civil, youth and military parades, and still today hosts major official ceremonies, cultural events and exhibitions.
