Just to the northeast of the old town of Split, between the two castles, is the Stross Mayar or Giardin as the people of Split call it. It became the city's main park in 1859, and in the mid-20th century a beautiful fountain named "Putto" (an angel-like figure) was added. It was last renovated in 2002, and this garden contains ancient and antique statues as well as fountains and wonderful green spaces that bring relaxation.
