The people of Kefalonia wanted to honor the poet Nikos Kavvadias, one of the most famous Greek poets whose poems are still immortal today and still sung by Greeks on their sea voyages. The statue of Nikos Kavadias looks at the sea, which the poet loved and wrote most of his poems, describing its beauty and the pleasure of sailing in it. Tourists can stand next to the poet and contemplate the sea with him while listening to songs taken from his poems.
