The State War Memorial commemorates the soldiers and women of Western Australia who died in the line of duty, or were killed in action in all of Australia's wars and conflicts, and the memorial was originally unveiled to honor the fallen in World War I. The monument is located at the top of the Kings Gardens and Botanical Garden, overlooking the city of Perth with views of the Swan River. The monument was developed around an 18-meter-tall obelisk as the main feature, and is a replica of the monument to Australian imperial power erected in France and Belgium.
