Information about Stamp Museum
The idea of creating a philatelic museum originated in the 1920s during the reign of the leaders of the Hungarian Post Office. The idea of allowing the public to see philatelic collections came true ten years later, and as a result of careful preparations the Philatelic Museum of the Hungarian Royal Mail was opened on April 28, 1930 on the top floor of the Postal Palace. This museum obtained circulating stamps and the old or unique pieces were obtained through exchange or given to the museum as a gift. Besides stamps of special publications, drawings and stamps are also displayed before they are officially issued together with seals, presses and unique Hungarian stamps.
