The Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula is located on Treurenberg Hill. The presence of a church on this site dates back to the beginning of the eleventh century AD. In 1047, Lambert II, Duke of Brabant, was carrying the relics of Saint Gudula to this site. The original church of St. Gudula was built in a Romantic style; However, its renovation in the thirteenth century gave rise to the Gothic style. Glimpses of the 11th century church can be seen through the church's interior decoration areas.
