Information about Spanish Steps
These stairs are located in a large square in the middle of the old boat roundabout; It symbolizes the sinking of ancient Rome when the Tiber River overflowed and the boat was washed up here. It is a wide staircase that connects the roundabout of Espana with Piazza Trinitade de Monti, and a meeting point for tourists and locals traveling to Rome. On the southern side of the roundabout is the statue of King David and the Prophet Moses, and to the southeast of the Spanish stairs we find the Trevi Fountain filled with statues, also known as the Fountain of Luck or the Fountain of Wishes, where a tourist or visitor throws a coin and wishes a wish, out of faith or in the hope of achieving it. Hundreds of pedestrians pass the Spanish stairs daily, and some take them to rest from walking, and others are tourists or students sitting on them to spend some fun time, surrounded by hotels, restaurants and ancient buildings.
