Information about South Tyrolean Fruit Tree Museum
The Fruit Tree Museum of South Tyrol is one of the most important fruit museums in Merano, containing extensive documents on the historical development and current status of fruit cultivation in the country, especially apples in the past and now. In Tyrol, with an area of 18,500 hectares, apple and grape vineyards extend, thus making the region the largest contiguous fruit-growing region in Europe. The museum reflects, among its many rooms, the stages of development and cultivation of the apple fruit, from seed to fruit, with its various colors of yellow, red and green, and depicts how women deal with it in the manufacture of jam and wine.
