Sohar Castle is considered one of the most important castles and forts in the North Al Batinah Governorate due to its distinguished location and the important role it played over the past centuries. This castle dates back to the end of the thirteenth century and the beginning of the fourteenth century. It features two parks; Silver Jubilee Park and Sohar Park, these parks are ideal destinations for people who want to get away from the busy city and enjoy the peace. The fort currently houses a museum that was opened in 1993 and displays many archaeological and historical aspects of Sohar, as well as other places in the Sultanate of Oman.
