The Chung Yi Museum of Formosan Aborigines displays the artifacts of many indigenous tribes in Taiwan. The aim of the museum is to enhance understanding of ethnic groups and conduct research and education about aboriginal cultures. The indigenous tribes of Taiwan mainly lived in the mountainous regions and southern Taiwan and spoke a number of Austronesian languages . The museum is divided into several sections, including man and nature; beliefs and ceremonies; lifestyles and tools; weapons and clothing; motifs and culture. There are nearly 2,000 artifacts as well as historical photographs and an art collection.
