Shihsanhang Museum of Archeology is located near the mouth of Tamsui River. The history of the archaeological site of Shihsanhang dates back about 500 to 1800 years to the prehistoric times of Taiwan. The ancient inhabitants are believed to be the ancestors of the Ketagalan people of the indigenous Pingpu tribe. Evidence gathered from the ruins indicates that the people of Shihsanhang had knowledge of metallurgy, and the silver and copper objects, gold ornaments, and coins unearthed indicate that commercial and economic activities were taking place at that time.
