The Shell Cemetery, also known as Susan Hoi, is an ancient petrified shell cemetery located 17 kilometers from the center of Krabi town along a 200-meter stretch along Ban Laem Phu. Modern scientific experts consider this shell tomb dating back to 40-40 25 million years old, although local folklore claims it is older than 75 million years, and this tomb appeared after limestone in the water deposited and petrified seashells, oysters, snails and a variety of other marine creatures creating tablets of complex geological traces. This is a great place to visit if you are interested in geology or historical artifacts, there are also mangrove forests worth exploring nearby and a Chinese temple in the cemetery is open to the general public.
