Séfontaine Castle was built between 1783 and 1784 by Jean-François and Pierre-Joseph Boch, who opened their nearby pottery factory in 1767 when Luxembourg was part of the Austrian Netherlands. The castle was previously occupied by French forces and sold in 1914, and after Luitwin von Boch acquired it again in 1970 as Villeroy & Boch ( Villeroy & Boch, commissioned by his cousin Antoine de Schorlemer to carry out a comprehensive renovation that lasted a full 12 years, and the rooms now bear witness to the success of the Bosch brothers, as the castle features stunning porcelain stone in all shapes and sizes that adorn the walls and windows.
