Sebkha El Kalbia is a sabkha located near the city of Sousse; It is a flat land that was previously a salt lake, and its surface is characterized by the presence of salt, gypsum and calcium carbonate deposits, and it covers 8000 hectares in the governorate of Sousse, and is considered the second most important wetland in the country after Lake Ichkeul, and it has been classified as a nature reserve by a decree issued by the Ministry of Agriculture On December 18, 1993, it is home to about 200,000 waterfowl. The rivers of Wadi Nibana, Wadi Marghil and Wadi Zroud flow into this dry lake during the rainy season. Its waters are deep in winter, but evaporate in summer to become very salty.
