The sculptures of Oscar Wilde and Eduard Vilde in front of Café Wilde are interesting speculations about literary history. The English and Estonian writer share the same family name, are of the same generation and sit on a bench together, but it is doubtful that they have ever met. Artist Tiiu Kirsipuu, who designed the sculptures based on the authors' portraits, noted that the year she was thinking about when she created the statue was 1890, when the two writers could meet for a witty conversation.
