The Church of São José was incorporated into a former Franciscan convent that was converted into a hospital in the mid-19th century. It was built in the 16th century and provided with a new facade in the 18th century, including a portico and three tiers of windows. The facade has five bas-reliefs Depicting stages of São Francisco's life, as well as limestone carvings and a basalt statue of the patron saint, the interior includes a collection of decorative elements representing 18th century art.
