Salambo cemetery is located in an ancient sacred area that was dedicated to the Phoenician gods Tanit and Baal. According to local interpretations and accounts, this cemetery contains a large number of graves of children who were sacrificed or buried after their death, and thus is of ancient historical and archaeological importance.
