St. Michael's Basilica is a Roman Catholic church located in the center of the upper city district. It is the oldest existing religious site in Luxembourg City. It was built in 987 as a chapel for the Count of Luxembourg. Over the following centuries, the building was destroyed, reconstructed and renovated several times, returning to its present appearance. to 1688, and combines Roman and Baroque architectural styles.
