Founded more than 100 years ago, the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden is listed as one of the oldest zoos in the world, opened by French botanist Jean-Baptiste Louis Pierre (JB Louis Pierre) in 1865, and currently has more than 550 animals on display in The zoo has more than 1,830 trees and 260 species of plants in the botanical garden, some of which are more than 100 years old.
